Sleuthify exists because the Canadian people-search market is dominated by products that promise records this country does not publish, to customers who only discover it after paying.
What we are
Verified
Sleuthify is a public-records search platform. We are not a private investigation agency, a credit bureau, or a consumer reporting agency, and our reports may not be used to make decisions about employment, tenancy, credit, or insurance eligibility.
Why this exists
The market’s problem is not technology
Search for a Canadian records service and you will be offered a criminal record check that no private company may issue, a nationwide court search of a country with no national docket, and a bank account locate that would be a criminal offence to perform. The interfaces are purple, the countdown timers are fake, and the results are usually a list of unscored name matches you could have found yourself.
The frustrating part is that the underlying records are genuinely useful. Canadian corporate registries name directors. Land titles name owners, in three provinces by owner. Personal property registries reveal what is already pledged. Court records show who sued whom. Professional regulators publish discipline. Obituaries map families better than any paid genealogy product. That material answers real questions — it is just spread across fourteen jurisdictions with fourteen different rules, and nobody was assembling it honestly.
So the product thesis is narrow: search only what may lawfully be searched, resolve it into one profile, cite every claim to the record it came from, and print the gaps as prominently as the findings. The differentiator is not access. It is that we tell you where the record runs out.

The structure is not an implementation detail. It is what keeps this a records platform rather than a licensed investigative business, and it constrains the product permanently.

Automated connectors exist for 8 of 13 provinces and territories. The rest are analyst work or nothing, and we would rather say that here than in a gaps section you read after paying.

Data handling
We hold information about people who never signed up
That is the uncomfortable fact at the centre of this business, and it is why the subject-rights channel does not require an account.
Records and reports are stored in Canada, in AWS’s Canadian region. Files are purged on a published schedule from the day a case closes — 90 days for a free scan, 2 years for a records report, 7 years for analyst work because a report relied on in litigation may have to be produced. Where an intake is refused, the subject’s details are purged within 30 days while the record of the refusal is kept.
Anyone — customer or subject — may ask what we hold about them and require corrections. We answer within 30 days, at no cost, and without asking why. Québec residents also have de-indexing and cessation-of-dissemination rights under Law 25, on the same clock.
What we cannot do is unpublish the underlying record. A judgment, a registry filing, a discipline decision — those belong to their operators, and the open court principle keeps published judgments published. We can tell you what we hold, fix it, and delete our copy.

Published for the same reason our reports carry a gaps section. If this list is ever out of date, that is a bug — tell us.
Referral partners: 0 of 4 provinces signed
Until an agency is signed in your province, a referral means we point you at the regulator's public licensee register and tell you what to ask for — not that we hand you to a partner.
Territories and the smaller provinces
Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick are analyst-only today. Newfoundland and Labrador, PEI, and the three territories have no connectors at all.
No published customer references
Sleuthify is new. We will not manufacture testimonials, review counts, or a client list to cover the gap; when a client agrees in writing to be named, they will appear with their name on them.
French
The product and the site are English-only at launch. Québec is a jurisdiction we cover well and serving it properly in French is a real obligation, not a nice-to-have.
Legal review is ongoing
The positioning, the privacy policy, and the terms are under review by Canadian privacy and regulatory counsel. Where a question is unresolved, the product takes the conservative path — which is why several capabilities competitors advertise are simply absent here.
